School pay offer acceptedDate: 27 November 97Author: Public Service Association of NSW
The following the text of the bulletin sent to all schools on November 26. The government made the PSA a final pay offer to SASS of 16% over 2˝ years. The proposed award will be from 1 July 1997 to 31 December 1999. The salary increase will be paid as follows: 4% backdated to 1 July 1997 2% from 1 January 1998 3% from 1 July 1998 3% from 1 January 1999 4% from 1 July 1999The Association considers this offers to be very satisfactory and more than comparable with other pay increases granted to other Public Sector employees. The offer was made to the Association as a final offer and it has been accepted on members’ behalf by the Schools Departmental Committee Executive and the Schools Steering Committee. The offer is dependent on the lifting of bans. MEMBERS ARE DIRECTED TO LIFT ALL BANSDetails of the pay offer will be given to members at meetings called between 1 and 10 December 1997. The good result would not have been achieved without the strong support of members and delegates. Thanks to all members! Thanks also go to the Teachers Federation and to all the Principals and Teachers in schools who supported us. We confidently expect that the Award will be made by the Industrial Relations Commission before Christmas.
