New redundancy package -- corrected version
Date: 24 October 97
Author: Public Service Association of NSW
The redundancy package published on this site on October 3 contained an error. The
condition which provides for an extra 2-8 weeks pay still requires acceptance within
2 weeks, not 4 weeks as published. My apologies for the misinformation.
The new conditions are:
- increase of severance pay to the rate of 3 weeks pay per years of service to a
maximum of 39 weeks (up from 2 weeks and 26 weeks);
- $5,000 allowance for counselling, training and retaining and purchase of relevant
equipment (subject to providing receipts);
- 4 weeks pay in lieu of notice;
- for employees who accept an offer of voluntary redundancy within 2 weeks of the
offer, an additional 2 to 8 weeks pay, dependant upon years of service;
- 1 week extra for anyone over 45;
- jobsearch allowance of up to 12 weeks paid leave, whilst not part the package,
is an option at the discretion of the organisation. This is not an extra pay out -- it
something which may be available while you are serving out your notice.
The package applies to persons who have accepted voluntary redundancy prior
to October 2, but are still in employment at October 2..
The package is effective from the date of the Premier's memorandum. That was
signed 2nd October, 1997.
