School staff impose bans

Date: 20 October 97
Author: Public Service Association of NSW

School administrative and support staff have voted to impose seven bans as part of their campaign for a new award.

The school members met last Friday at 150 sites across the state.

They also voted to reject the Department's 3 percent interim offer. (The Department made a belated interim offer of 3% just two days before the meetings.)

The seven areas where work bans are imposed are:

  • Back to School Allowance;
  • Annual School Reports;
  • Use of private vehicles for school business;
  • Libraries when teacher/librarian absent;
  • Home visits (except emergencies);
  • Chemical data registration and coding;
  • Supervision of children when teacher not present.
96.6 percent of the members at the meetings voted to reject the Department's offer and impose bans.
