COURSES

Women in the Union:- This is a 2 DAY COURSE for women members who would like to know more about their union and their rights at work. The course includes topics such as workplace communication; your rights, entitlements and responsibilities in the workplace; union structures, processes and policies; career development; and current industrial issues.

Introduction to the Union:- This is a 1 DAY ORIENTATION COURSE for new and other interested members. Topics include members' participation; history and role of unions; union structures and services; and union policies and campaigns.

Delegates One:- This 2 DAY COURSE is open to delegates and members interested in becoming delegates and covers union structure, the role of the delegate, and industrial and employment rights.

Delegates Two:- This course is for delegates who have already completed the 2 day Skills for Delegates course. The focus of this course is on developing the skills required to perform as a delegate.

Regional Training
Please note that it is a requirement that you attend the course at the closest location to your workplace/place of residence.

To apply to attend a course, either use the registration form in Red Tape, or send a letter or e-mail to the Training Unit stating:

  • Name
  • Course & its date
  • Your department or agency
  • Your work postal address, phone number and fax number
  • Gender (M or F)
  • State whether a delegate and for which group of members

Paid Leave for Trade Union Training
All training offered in this program will be endorsed by the union unless otherwise indicated. Most state public sector and higher education members are entitled to 12 days' paid Trade Union Training Leave in a two year period. Please note that there is no charge for these courses and courses are available to PSA members only. Non- members wishing to attend our training will need to submit a membership application first.

Number of participants in each course is limited - please respond as soon as possible.
