Central Council has voted to accept an offer of 16% over 3 years for those employees covered by the Crown Employees (Public Sector Salaries) Award.

The 16% is made up as follows:

  • 1% backdated to January 1 1997;
  • 3% from 1 July 1997;
  • 2% from 1 January 1998;
  • 3% + 2% from 1 July 1998;
  • 3% + 2% from 1 January 1999.

The award ends 31st December 1999.

The 3 percents are fully paid out of consolidated revenue. The other components are 'productivity' related. The first 1% and 2% have already been agreed. The last 2%'s are dependent on achieving productivity savings. Our view is that will happen as a result of government programs which have already been announced.

The pay rises still have to go to Cabinet and then to the NSW Industrial Relations Commission for approval.

There are couple of loose ends, the most serious of these are the special cases, such as the claims made on behalf of Psychologists', General Assistants in Schools, Library Technicians, Court Reporters , etc.
