20% members ony pay claimDate: 18 April 97Author: Public Service Association of NSW
PSA Central Council has supported a recommendation from the General Secretary to step up pressure on the Government over the now drawn out negotiations. The Council agreed that negotiations should continue as a matter of urgency, and a deadline for completion of 24 April was set. Following receipt of the Government's final offer, a special Central Council will be held to decide on further action. Council will has foreshadowed a number of options. One of these is a ballot of those members covered by the award. If this ballot goes ahead members will have options of accepting the offer, rejecting it and running an arbitrated case in the Industrial Commission, or rejecting and running an industrial campaign till we get an acceptable offer. At the moment the latest offer is for 15 percent over three years. This includes productivity savings (i.e. cost cutting) provisions. And it does not include a members only provision. This is not acceptable. Negotiations are continuing and new proposals are being examined.
