Electorate Officers consent award goes to vote

PSA and the Parliamentary Officers have negotiated a consent award for new salaries and allowances for electorate officers. (Electorate officers work for members of NSW Parliament.)

Their proposal is being put to a ballot of members before being lodged with the IRC for ratification.

They will get a 4% salary rise backdated to July 96. This will bring them into line with the public service rises.

They will get new all-purpose allowances, which incorporate previous allowances and give them a rise.

The new allowance will be treated as salary for all purposes, eg superannuation, leave, etc.

The other feature is that acting up allowances will apply for one day or more (in the public service it's 5 days or more).
