PacPower new award

Employees of Pacific Power have been awarded a 5%-over-one-year pay increase and a 10% increase in allowances.

Pacific Power staff are employed at Head Office in Sydney, Eraring Power Station, the Services Group in the Hunter & Central Coast, Advanced Technological Centre at the University of Newcastle, and hydro-electric centres in the south of NSW.

As well as the allowance increase, there are some new allowances, eg a location allowance for H.O. staff.

Some allowances - Power Station, Motor Vehicle Damage and Car Licence Allowances - have been pooled and incorporated into a single allowance.

Pacific Power had begun negotiations for an enterprise agreement. The PSA pushed that it should be an award.

The award is a joint award with other unions. PSA is one of the leading unions.

The negotiations resulted in a consent award between Pacific Power and the unions, which was ratified by Deputy President Harrison in the NSW Industrial Commission

The Award brings Pacific Power employees back into the award system, and ends the Greiner-Fahey era of enterprise haggling.
