Public Sector Delegates Resolution
03 July 2008
Delegates from public sector unions met at Unions NSW this morning to consider actions to be taken on:
- the Iemma Government's pay cuts policy,
- protection of NSW's OHS system from undermining by the inferior Commonwealth system, and
- retaining our NSW industrial relations rights.
The meeting was well attended. The resolution endorsed is as follows:
RESOLUTION
This meeting calls on Premier Morris Iemma to stand up for NSW public sector workers by:
- over-turning the Treasurer's wages policy that forces workers to accept a cut in hake home pay;
- by protecting NSW public sector workers from losing OHS rights under a Federal system;
- retaining the NSW Industrial Relations system
Unions NSW will establish a public sector campaign committee to raise awareness of the threats to the wages and conditions of NSW workers under the wages policy and current plans to impose national IR and OHS systems.
Unions NSW calls on all public sector affiliates to participate in a day of action on July 30th where members will be called upon to demonstrate the extent the public relies on services delivered by public sector workers.
Further, the meeting calls for the campaign committee to meet with the Premier regarding wages policy, OH&S and the state IR system.
A further meeting of delegates to be convened to consider further action if the outcomes of the meeting with the Premier are unsatisfactory.
