75 Years of Women’s Council - Study Grant offered25 October 2005To commemorate 75 years of Women’s Council, the PSA is offering a study grant to a worthy female member. The idea to commemorate the 75 years with a study grant came from PSA President Sue Walsh and was fine-tuned in consultation with Women's Council Chair Cheryl McGuire, Womens Industrial Officer Anne Kennelly, and others. The 75 Years of Women's Council Study Grant is open to all women members of the PSA who will be undertaking further education and training in 2006. The Study Grant is sponsored by the PSA and State Super Financial Services. Consideration will be given to women who can demonstrate in their submission how their further study will help them improve their job and career prospects. Consideration will also be given to a woman who can demonstrate that hardship has been a barrier to her advancing her study opportunities. This may include financial difficulties, carer's responsibilities, geographic and cultural isolation. Applicants should also include in their submission a brief work history and how long they have been a member of the PSA. The successful applicant will receive $5,000. The $5,000 may be used for a short course (conducted by an accredited training provider), a university degree or a TAFE course. It can be used for expenses such as childcare, course admission fees, HECS, books or stationary. A Committee consisting of PSA President, Sue Walsh, Women's Council Chair, Cheryl McGuire and Women's Industrial Officer Anne Kennelly will consider all submissions. The successful applicant will be announced in the next edition of Red Tape. Closing date for submissions is 28 November 2005.
