Update on DADHC Disability Service industrial action

05 November 2004

We were in the Commission on Thursday 28 October. Commissioner Murphy requested the parties meet to further negotiate the issues.

Executive members of the Departmental Committee and PSA officials met with the Department on Friday 29 October but discussions were limited to accommodation and respite issues.

We reported back to the Commissioner on Friday 29 October and were directed to lift the threat of strike action, to continue negotiations and to report back on 18 November (when the Commissioner returns from leave).

On Monday 1 November the Departmental Committee Executive and PSA officials again met with the Department to discuss community support team and day programme issues.

On Wednesday 3 November the Director-General forwarded a letter to the Association setting out the terms of those negotiations and the Department's latest proposal. The terms of that letter were conveyed to the Departmental Committee in a teleconference on Wednesday 3 November.

The DC agreed to consider the terms of the letter and will meet in Sydney on Monday 8 November to determine a response.

At this point in time the direction to members to strike remains in force.
