Prison Officers on their bikes to the 'Gong

A team is being put together by the Metro prisons for participation at the Sydney to Wollongong bike ride on the 2nd November, 2003.

A team of 25 riders is being compiled with sponsorship from Universal Cycles at Parramatta who have pledged riding jerseys. Netti have also been approached to donate riding nicks.

The Regional Commander of the Metro region, Dave Farrell, has also been approached to sponsor the team with a $500 pledge.

The event itself is very well established and is over a 90 kilometre distance. All proceeds are given to the Multiple Schlerosis Society.

It is important for us as prison officers to try to lift our community profile and our involvement in such events helps to display to the public that we can contribute in a positive way to the larger community.
