PSA submission on the Lifelong learning proposal

11 August 2003

The PSA has put a thirty page counter proposal to the DET/TAFE management’s Lifelong Learning proposal.

It's emphasis is on maintaining jobs and services, full and appropriate funding for TAFE and schools, maintaining the separate identity and accountability for TAFE, maintaining country jobs, and not adding extra layers of senior executives.

The PSA's submission is in the pdf below.

It's been seven weeks since the announcement on job/service cuts, and while the fight is far from over, the completion of the PSA submission is an appropriate time to acknowledge the hard work done by delegates and staff.

Special thanks to Jenny Long and Phil Musgrave, who both work for DET, for their major effort in compiling the data and writing the submission. Also special thanks goes to Anne Kennelly, Sally McManus and Russell Hewitt who contributed to the proposal and a number of media events across TAFE and DET, in cooperation with the Labor Council.

Big thanks also to the delegates on the PSA Steering Committee who kept members informed, and developed the campaign direction and sense of purpose. They are:
