Claim for new Prison Officers Award

That the Union is currently pursuing a new award for prison officers and is seeking improvements in:

• salaries
• allowances
• improvement in part-time work provisions
• improvement in acting in higher grades and
• the creation of a new position which will sit between senior correctional officer and assistant superintendent.

There are a large number of other claims which are currently being entertained including better community and family service leave for shift workers. The claim is presently before the NSW Industrial Relations Commission and has been listed for hearing on the 4th of July 2003.
