Proposed Aboriginal Education Assistants (AEAs) Award

The PSA has written to members who are Aboriginal Education Assistants (AEAs) calling for nominations to a steering committee to work on the proposed award.

The PSA recently surveyed AEA members and there was overwhelming support for the negotiation of an award. AEAs currently come under the School Administrative & Support Staff Award, however their working requirements and community obligations differ from other school support staff.

There has been some preliminary discussions with the Department.

The steering committee will be involved in negotiations and will advise PSA staff on requirements. It will operate in much the same way as the steering committee representing senior school assistants and school assistants in their review.
