Sound Reporters Award

15 April 2003

On 3 April, the Industrial Relations Commission of NSW made an Award to cover the salaries and conditions of employment of "multi-skilled" Sound Reporters and those of the new position of Dual Remote Sound Reporter. It is a consent award – i.e. both PSA and Attorney General’s were in agreement.

The Award determined the salaries of multi-skilled Sound Reporters at the range of $39,900 to $43,427 per annum following training, the equivalent of that of Clerk Grade 2/3. All Sound Reporters hitherto were graded Clerks Grade 1/2.

The Award also determined the salary of the new position of Dual Remote Sound Reporter at $44,784.

The NSW public sector salaries award rise due in July will flow on to employees covered by the new Award.

The Award also contains clauses detailing the parties' willingness to consult and negotiate on technological change in the future, and ensure that new technology meets O.H. & S. requirements.
