DET -- bans and limitations to escalate

12 February 1999

Staff at offices of the newly amalgamated Department of Education and Training will escalate bans following the failure of Director General, Ken Boston, to comply with the PSA's request to halt the current restructure.

Employees are outraged at the unfair methods of determining who will be placed in a job.

PSA General Secretary, Janet Good, said "the restructuring process which has been rammed through without consultation will lead to further job losses in areas which have already been decimated by previous job cuts. There are already huge cracks in the infrastructure which services schools and TAFE colleges.

"Further job losses will mean a complete breakdown. Our children's education will suffer."
