Funding for School Administrative and Support Staff Training

The Department of Education and Training has now confirmed in writing that they will fund the training of SAS Staff for another year. They have allocated $1million for the 2008/09 year to allow the Regional SAS Staff Reference Groups to continue to organise and fund training of staff.

The Department has asked to meet with the PSA to agree on the amount of funds that will be allocated to each region. This needs to occur as soon as possible so that the committees know their fund allocation for the year to enable them to continue to organise training.

In addition, the Association will continue to lobby the Department to make this funding for training ongoing. This will ensure that our members continue to receive their training and the RSRGs do not have to almost cease operation at the end of each financial year while awaiting the DETs decision.
