RTA application for Salaries & Conditions Award

The PSA was successful on Monday 21 July in obtaining an order from a full bench of the NSW Industrial Relations Commission to have the RTA's award application joined to the PSA public sector salaries case.

The Commission approved the PSA motion for joinder of these industrial matters and rejected the RTA's submissions that it be extricated from the PSA salaries case.

The RTA claimed it had never intended to be party to the proceedings and sought to enterprise bargain with the PSA due to its special place inside and outside the NSW public sector.

This is despite RTA officers participating with the Premiers' Department officers in proceedings to finalise and agree on those agencies required to provide evidence for the Salaries Case arbitration.

The bench will provide its reasons for its decision to the parties shortly.

PSA senior officers will meet the Association's lawyers on the 29th July to consider the evidence from the Government Agencies (including the RTA) which was required to be lodged with the Industrial registry by the 25th July 2008.
