Decision

Report adopted

Report

The PSA has been approached by members in the Central Monitoring Station Unit because of the implementation of a new overtime remuneration process.

Apparently, upon advice from the Industrial Relations Directorate, the DET has told non-CMS staff that when they cover shifts, that it is 'secondary employment' and thus any overtime is paid at the rate of a security officer, not their substantive position.

In addition members have been advised that they are to complete secondary employment forms.

There has been no consultation with the PSA over this and it is a significant change to previous custom and practise.

The PSA has made initial contact with the DET about this matter. As yet there has been no response.

A meeting with all staff is organised for the next couple of weeks where staff will be consulted with and told not to work the overtime unless paid correctly.
