Tourism, Arts, Sport & Recreation Program Officers AwardExecutive, 31 March 2008
Report adopted
The Award was recently listed in the Industrial Relations Commission for a Section 19 Review. The Department took this opportunity to propose three central changes to the Award which involved the following: Hours of Duty and On Call relating to Bivouac The Bivouac is a traditional activity offered to groups. Currently all overnight hours are counted as being On Duty. The Department proposes that hours worked up until the time that the 'campers' fall asleep would be deemed as 'on duty'. The time worked after that would be paid by way of a non established camping allowance as defined within the Crown employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2006. Public Holidays The clause has been amended to reflect current custom and practice. Compensatory Leave The Department is proposing a change of counting of hours from weekly to 4 weekly basis for calculating "excess hours". This will have a direct impact on our members' ability to accrue compensatory leave per year. PSA agreed in the commission to consult with members. Consultation was initiated and members indicated that they opposed all three changes. As a result the matter has been stood over until mid April and further consultation will occur.
