Salary sacrifice at Local Government
Executive, 29 January 2008
Report adopted
In response to representations to the PSA made by members employed at the Department of Local Government, the PSA wrote late in September 2007 to the Department's Director General asking him why the Department limits its staff to one salary sacrifice provider, that is McMillan Shakespeare, and to only a few of the items listed by the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet for salary sacrifice.
In November 2007 the PSA received a reply to its letter which stated that a review into the range of benefit items available to employees had been held as a result of the PSA's enquiry, and that as a result it has been decided to offer all available benefit items outlined by Premier's Circular.
Only one provider, McMillan Shakespeare, has been chosen to provide salary packaging administrative services [by the Government not the Department. LC], and it has been asked to provide a new User Guide for Salary Packaging for the Department of Local Government.
