Crown Lands restructure

Executive, 29 January 2008

Decision

Report adopted

Report

The progress of a new organisational structure of Crown Lands NSW, a Division of the Department of Lands, has been reported continuously for many months.

A committee, with PSA representation, has been established to address claims by some members employed in Crown Lands who consider they have been, and are, undertaking work of a significantly higher value than their recognised grade in the new structure. This committee is expected to resume its work with some urgency, following the summer holiday break, in February.

The Department has also established a review of the position of Team Leader (Grade 7/8) in Crown Lands, as a result of some perceived inequities in its grading. A consultant has been appointed to conduct this review, and will meet with PSA representatives in February.

In the meantime, members at the Nowra office of Crown Lands gave notice to the Department last November that they wish two vacant positions of a clerical support nature in the office to be filled by 1 February 2008 and will consider industrial action if they are not. The Department has made statements indicating that action is being taken to fill these positions. However they remain vacant to date. Members will meet to consider this matter further in February.
