Certificate IV in Government – School Support Services

The PSA and the DET have had discussions about the introduction of traineeships in Certificate IV in Government - Schools Support Services. These traineeships are Commonwealth Government funded and will cover the cost of fees to undertake the courses as well as the cost of backfilling the trainee while they are at TAFE and for some study leave.

Expressions of interest were put out to Administrative Staff in the St George area for a trial of the course to be undertaken by St George College of TAFE.

PSA delegates and industrial staff recently attended an introductory session for the course. One of the Schools' Departmental Committee delegates will take part in the course.

Those taking part in this course will gain a Certificate IV in Government - School Support Services as well as a Certificate IV in Frontline Management.

At the end of the traineeship (12 months) trial the PSA and the DET will undertake an assessment of the trial. If it has been successful there will be subsequent discussions about offering the traineeships throughout the state.
