Cross Border Trades & Labour Council, Albury/WodongaCentral Council, 14 August 2006, CC68/06
"That the Association affiliate to the Cross Border Trades and Labour Council for the Albury/Wodonga region on the basis of 3 delegates and affiliation fee of $200.00 per quarter. Further, that members in the Albury area be circulated for nominations of delegate to the Cross Border Trades and Labour Council".
It is planned to establish a Cross Border Trades and Labour Council for the Albury/Wodonga region. Currently a Trades and Labour Council exists based in Wodonga which covers North East Region of Victoria. However, on a defacto basis it covers the Southern Riverina. This NSW area previously was covered by Albury and Border Trades and Labour Council. Some years ago this Council ceased to operate and upon the establishment of the North Eastern Border Trades and Labour Council a number of years ago this area then on a defacto basis became covered by the Wodonga based council. A number of enquires are directed by NSW employees to this Trades and Labour Council. The Association was affiliated on a continuous basis to the Albury Trades and Labour Council whist in operation and also supported a Cross Border arrangement of trade unions. A number of years ago this was discussed at a Unions NSW meeting which also endorsed a Cross Border Trades and Labour Council. The representation to the Cross Border Trades and Labour Council is on the basis that affiliated Unions are entitled to representation based on the following membership numbers:-
No more than 300 members:2 representatives Affiliation fees are based on 50 cents per member per quarter or $100.00 per quarter whichever is the greater. The Association has approximately 400 members in the Albury and surrounding areas, which would entitle us to 3 representatives to this Cross Border Council and the affiliation fees would be $200 per quarter.
