Award Claim for Psychologists, 14 November 2005Central Council 14 November 2005
Report adopted
After almost eight years in preparation and after encountering a number of obstacles, the Association has finally lodged a comprehensive work value claim for public service Psychologists. The claim seeks salary increases, the introduction of new classifications and a shortened incremental scale. The Association is also seeking a number of enhancements to conditions eg payment of academic study fees. The claim was lodged on the 8 November 2005. The lodgement followed a conference convened by the President of the IRC, Judge Wright, which was attended by the PSA and its legal team together with PEO and its legal representatives. Judge Wright proposed that the Association file and serve its claim in early November and that the parties convene no later than the week commencing 28 November. Judge Wright will chair another conference in early December and may set hearing dates at that time. It is anticipated that the Association will call 16 or 17 witnesses from across the public service and conduct two inspections of workplaces to amplify oral testimonies. It is anticipated that the PEO will file its own application and the PEO intend to present 9 witnesses in response to the Association's evidence. It is expected that the hearing will occupy at least 12 days before a Full Bench and that dates will be set down for the formal hearing in the middle of next year. UPDATE Dates were set on December 1 - click here Contact Details John Scullion, PIO Ph: 9220 0911 jscullion@psa.asn.au |
