About DADHC workers and departmentThe department of Ageing, Disabilities and Home Care was formed 2001 by separating Disability Services from the department of Community Services and amalgamating it with the Home Care Service and the Department of Ageing & Disabilities. It has a budget in excess of $1.1 billion. The department has the equivalent to 8,165 full-time employees (the actual number of people is higher because many are part-time), made up of:
There are 309 group homes across the state and six major residential centres. (In 2001 there were 256 group homes.) Home Care provides about four million hours of personal, domestic and respite care.
