NSW Lotteries update on pay offer & petition10 September 2008NSW Industrial Relations CommissionAt our August report back to the NSW Industrial Relations Commission, NSW Lotteries reported that it will be making a new offer which will be more constructive and conducive to resolution. The PSA responded that we expect any new offer to recognise the delay involved and any pay increase be operational from 1 July this year. At our most recent report back to the Commission on the 4th September NSW Lotteries reported that they are not yet ready to make their revised offer as it is still with the budget committee. At NSW Lotteries' request, the matter is scheduled to be back in the Commission on the 7th October 2008.
Petition - Fair Pay and Recognition for Staff at NSW LotteriesA petition regarding your pay rise has been initiated by PSA members and is currently being circulated at NSW Lotteries. The petition is addressed to the Minister for Gaming and Racing, and urges him to intervene to ensure that NSW Lotteries Corporation respects and recognises the contributions its employees have made to its success. The petition calls for any new pay offer from NSW Lotteries to be above CPI and requires that any such pay offer not be tied to a reduction in Award entitlements and conditions.
IT Shift RosterThe petition also calls for the withdrawal of NSW Lotteries' recent cost cutting proposal to change the 12 hour shift roster in the Information Technology Services Division to an 8 hour shift arrangement. The 12 hour shift arrangement was introduced 14 years ago in recognition that the 8 hour shift arrangement did not work. NSW Lotteries' current proposal to return to the 8 hour shift is overly complicated, will increase fatigue and result in a pay cut for affected staff.
The PSA urges you to sign the petition. The PSA also urges all members to circulate copies of the petition amongst all NSW Lotteries staff and to encourage your fellow employees to join their union the PSA.If you would like to have copies mailed or emailed to you, please contact your Organiser, Olivia Morris on 9220 0904 or at omorris@psa.asn.au. A meeting will be held at Homebush on Thursday 18th September 2008 for the collection of the petitions, alternatively you can mail them to Olivia Morris at the PSA, GPO Box 3365, Sydney, NSW 2001. Membership forms should be available in all lunchrooms, let others know where to find them. If there are no forms available in your area, please contact your Organiser, Olivia Morris on 9220 0904.
