Police Gaso positions update14 March 2008The Public Service Association of NSW (PSA) and the NSW Police Force appeared yesterday (March 13) before Justice Boland of the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC). Once again the PSA raised its concerns about inadequate coverage of the front counter and increased workloads if the GASO implementation proceeds as proposed by the NSW Police Force. The Police Association voiced similar concerns. The NSW Police Force proposed several rosters at Hurstville which were overwhelmingly rejected by the PSA and Police Association membership. Justice Boland has decided to do a workplace inspection at Hurstville LAC on Monday 17 March to investigate issues at the local level. The PSA and Police Association will also be in attendance. Members from a number of LACs have contacted the PSA to express their concerns about the implications for counter coverage and increased workloads which will result from the rosters proposed at their workplaces. If you have similar concerns, we urge you to contact us to let us know. Please encourage sworn officers to raise their concerns with the Police Association. Your responses will be fed back into the Roster Implementation Committee which is scrutinising proposed rosters and looking carefully at front counter coverage and the potential for increased workloads for members. The PSA once again directs members to refrain from signing any documentation provided by management or attend any interview regarding Voluntary Redundancies and redeployment into the GASO positions. By not participating in the process, you will strengthen our argument that our members are vehemently opposed to the GASO proposal as we are still in dispute regarding the deletion of positions. Should you wish to discuss these matters, please contact PSA A/Industrial Officer, Paul Toole or PSA Organiser, Chris Papadopoulos on 9290 1555 or email ptoole@psa.asn.au Contact Details Paul Toole, A/Industrial Officer Ph: 02 9290 1555 Fax: 02 9262 1623 ptoole@psa.asn.au |
