Police GASO Positions Update03 March 2008The Public Service Association (PSA) and the NSW Police Force appeared on Friday before Justice Boland of the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC). The PSA's concerns about front counter coverage and rostering arrangements have still not been resolved. Justice Boland ordered a further meeting at Hurstville between NSW Police Force, the PSA and the Police Association. Hurstville LAC is being used as an example. Affected staff there will be consulted on the implications of the proposed roster for front counter coverage and workloads. Justice Boland has asked for a Report Back on 10 March 2008. At Friday's hearing, the Police Association advised that its members had reported that a number of LACs were to lose front counter coverage, and raised again its concerns about police officers doing front counter work. NSW Police Force had previously given an undertaking to the Police Association that there would be no reduction in front counter coverage by civilian staff. If you think your LAC will suffer from a loss of front counter coverage or an unworkable roster, please forward your concerns, preferably by email to ptoole@psa.asn.au The PSA once again directs members to refrain from signing any documentation provided by management or attend any interview regarding Voluntary Redundancies and redeployment into the GASO positions. By not participating in the process, you will strengthen our argument that our members are vehemently opposed to the GASO proposal as we are still in dispute regarding the deletion of positions. Should you wish to discuss these matters, please contact PSA A/Industrial Officer, Paul Toole or PSA Organiser, Chris Papadopoulos on 9290 1555 or email ptoole@psa.asn.au Contact Details Paul Toole, Acting Industrial Officer Ph: 02 9220 0946 Fax: 02 9262 1623 ptoole@psa.asn.au |
