Report on GASO positions in Local Area Command19 February 2008The Public Service Association of NSW (PSA) and NSW Police Force appeared today before Justice Boland of the Industrial Relations Commission of NSW (IRC). Justice Boland has made a recommendation that covers a number of issues, including the impact of any changes on childcare and other carer responsibilities, and on permanent part-time work arrangements. PSA delegates are currently considering the recommendation. An ongoing concern over the roster arrangements has led to NSW Police Force being asked to report back on Friday 29 February 2008 with a roster for Hurstville LAC to be used as an example. The roster will be assessed as to whether the front counter at Hurstville LAC can be adequately covered. The PSA's Departmental Committee for Police met today and discussed the issue at length. The meeting passed the following resolution:
"This meeting of PSA Departmental Committee Delegates condemns Police Management's proposed implementation of the GASO class into LACs and the resulting job cuts. The PSA once again directs members to refrain from signing any documentation provided by management regarding VRs and the redeployment into the GASO positions. Should you wish to discuss these matters, please contact PSA A/Industrial Officer, Paul Toole or PSA Organiser, Chris Papadopoulos on 9290 1555.
