Police - Bans & Limitations imposed from midnight Thursday

05 February 2008

Bans and Limitations will be in force from Midnight Thursday, 7th February 2008 over General Administrative Support Officers (GASO) positions in Local Area Commands

Dear Members,

The PSA advises that NSW Police Force are moving forward with the implementation of the GASO positions from the 7th of April 2008.

The Association continues to reject the idea of creating these generalist positions which will see three specialised jobs disappear from every Local Area Command across NSW -- General Support Officers (GSO), Court Processing Officers (CPO) and the Clerical Officer 1/2 (CO)} .

The implementation of the GASO positions will lead to job cuts and staff will have to pick up the extra workload of those officers whose positions have disappeared.

As a result the PSA proposes that BANS and LIMITATIONS take effect from midnight, Thursday, 7th of February in all Local Area Commands. These include:

  • Ban on all non-essential work (work to rule)
  • Ban on all workload of unfilled positions
  • GSOs, CPOs and COs to perform only those duties stated on their position descriptions

Should you require further information in respect of the above, please contact your local workplace delegate, or PSA A/Industrial Officer Paul Toole or PSA Organiser Chris Papadopoulos on 9290 1555 or police@psa.asn.au .
