Accommodation & Respite Services Restructure, June 2007

15 June 2007

Urgent Notice to members in DADHC

Two weeks ago the PSA issued a Newsletter to members in DADHC advising them of negotiations with the Department on the impending restructure. As we told members in that Newsletter, the Department had tabled three models with the Union and would be briefing the PSA's delegates on its preferred model on the 19th of June 2007. The agreement was that the PSA's delegates would enter into a consultative process with our members and with the Department to look at aspects of all three proposals and negotiate with the Department on a final agreed model.

We now know that in the Southern Region and possibly in others management are convening meetings of staff to discuss the Department's preferred model. At the State Consultative Meeting held today, 14th June 2007, the Department's representatives endorsed this action of regional management. The PSA sees this as blatantly undermining the consultative process with the union and attempts to deny union members from having input into the model to be applied.

Members should be aware that there is NO AGREEMENT on the Department's preferred model and we will ensure members and delegates are consulted prior to any agreement.

Until such time as the Department commits to full and proper consultation MEMBERS ARE DIRECTED TO NOT ATTEND ANY MEETINGS CONVENED BY REGIONAL MANAGEMENT TO DISCUSS THE DEPARTMENT'S RESTRUCTURE PROPOSAL.

If any member is coerced or forced to attend any of these meetings, they should contact the PSA immediately.

The DADHC Disability Services Departmental Committee which comprises of delegates from all regions will be meeting on the 18th and 19th of June 2007 to consider the PSA's position on these matters.
