SAS Staff News, November 2929 November 2006
Error - Excursions/CampsIn our Newsletter of 23 November we stated that 'any hours over 6¼ hours for that day is overtime and must be paid as overtime'. This is incorrect - any hours in excess of 7 hours should be paid as overtime. All other information in this segment is correct.Attending excursions/camps is not in your duty statement. If you wish to attend make sure you are being paid correctly. For any assistance on this matter please call the PSA Schools Team on 9290 1555 or 1800 467 932.
SurveyThe PSA is participating in the ACTU Your Rights @ Work Campaign. The second stage of this program involved the polling of a group of our members. This took place last week and was done by a professional organisation working for the PSA.It should be stressed that all information has been collected for the PSA as part of the Your Rights @ Work Campaign and no personal information will be retained by the polling company.
Important - 30 November ActionWe are aware that this is the busiest time of your school year but we ask SAS staff to support Your Rights at Work by taking part in a Rally or Sky Channel Broadcast in your area. SAS staff are not taking strike or stop work action, so we urge you to participate. This is most important for the future of your industrial rights and those of your children, relatives and friends. You can make arrangements with your school to make up the time - this will allow you to do your OASIS roll over duties as well as help us all protect Your Rights at Work. The Government is supporting the right of Public Servants to attend a rally or Sky Channel Broadcast. Your wages and conditions are only protected under a State Award until the next election. Let all politicians know how you feel about 'Your Rights at Work' by attending a rally. Teachers are undertaking stop work action if they are attending the rally. PSA members are directed not to undertake their duties. Supervision of students should not be carried out by SAS Staff in schools. Principals should make arrangements for procedures if parents drop off students. Teachers' Aides Special should note that they are not to supervise individual students or classes in the absence of a teacher.
