Details of the new Psychologists Award

19 October 2006

The new salary scale for psychologists arising from the decision of the NSW Industrial Relations Commission are set in four tables below.

The Commission accepted the PSA's proposal of a Classification Committee which enables Psychologists to be reclassified as Senior Psychologist or Specialist Psychologist and a Specialist Psychologist to be reclassified to Senior Specialist.

Also attached are tables showing the transition arrangements for existing staff so that members can see where they fit on the new scale and what salary increase they will receive. These tables reflect the Commission's decision that the salary increases should be no less than 5%. Existing staff have access to a Classification Committee.

The Environmental Allowance applicable in Corrective Services and Juvenile Justice Centres is $2,143.

The PSA will discuss the implementation of the award provisions with the relevant departments. However the salary increases, when paid will be backdated to 9 October 2006.
