RTA and the Howard Government IR laws

The Roads and Traffic Authority is one of the state government organisations which could be adversely affected by the Federal Government's WorkChoices legislation.

We are currently in negotiations with the NSW Government, the ultimate employer of RTA people, to obtain the best arrangements for protecting pay and conditions.

The WorkChoices law give employers much greater powers to influence wages and conditions. The NSW Government has agreed that wages and conditions of state employees should be maintained, and that agreements already made should be maintained. This principle will be formalised in an appropriate form which will apply to all NSW Government bodies caught in the WorkChoices ambit.

The PSA has produced a RTA-specific leaflet on the WorkChoices law. It has been posted to all members in RTA. It is also attached below.
