SAS STAFF NEWS -- STAFFING ARRANGEMENTS

31 January 2005

There seems to be some confusion about staffing the corporate data and the additional staff allocations in schools for this term.

Schools and SAS Staff should not be disadvantaged by the Department's delay to fully implement staffing for 2005.

Schools should therefore continue to employ staff to work the hours for the above allocations in the same way as last year. This process should continue until the Department makes a permanent appointment for these hours. This should happen, according to the Department of Education and Training, by the beginning of Term 2.

However, if the Department has not achieved their goal, schools should continue last year's staffing process until the Department's objective is reached.

In other words, if you employed a casual last year to work these hours, continue to do so. If a permanent part time employee worked these hours last year, continue this same arrangement.

The only change in hours for this term is for the administrative managers who are required to work 6 hours 40 minutes a day (the additional 25 minutes per day equals the previous GST allocation).
