The Attorney General is responsible for a large number of legal and administrative bodies. The main ones are, with employee numbers (full time equivalents) in brackets:

  • Attorney General's Department (3,323) - most of whom are employed in the courts: Local Courts (1,229); District Court (318); Supreme Court (320); industrial relations commission (111), Land & Environment Court (55) and other court support service (896).
  • Judicial Commission of NSW (35)
  • Legal Aid Commission (674)
  • Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (617)
  • Public Trust Office (300)
  • Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages (140)
  • Offices of the Public Guardian and Protective Commissioner (345)
