Election of PSA/CPSU Delegates

PSA members elect their delegates to represent them on PSA Departmental Committees, Vocational Committees, Workplace Committees, and Women's Council.

We have over 1,100 delegates across the state - about one for every 40 members.

Delegates are often the first point of contact with the union for employees wishing to join, and members suggesting objectives for the union or seeking information or other help. It's the delegates who organize meetings and get the PSA/CPSU industrial staff along.

Elections for these delegates are conducted by the PSA's Returning Officer. The Returning Officer is on 9220 0915 or GPO Box 4767, Sydney NSW 2001

Nominations are sought for election of delegates every few years. Calls for nomination are published in Red Tape. The timetable is not rigid - events such as departmental restructure can cause considerable delays.

Elections for our central decision making bodies, the Executive and Central Council, is conducted under the provisions of the NSW Industrial Relations Act 1966 and its Regulation. In practice this means the State Electoral Office conducts these elections.

The nomination form for Departmental Committee Candidates, which requires some details, such as names, signatures nominees and nominators, candidate information, etc, can be downloaded from the pdf document below.
